  1. Day 1 Airport/Pinnawala/Kandy

You will be greeted by Tours local driver and thereafter the first stop for the day would be the famous Elephant orphanage in Pinnawala. It is a 25 acre coconut property that is a conservation camp for Sri Lankan elephants.

Here you will witness baby elephants being fed by a feeding bottle as soon as you enter. This is a lovely site for tourists.

This elephant orphanage also houses the crippled elephants that can’t take care of themselves.

Special mahouts are trained to take care of these ‘gentle giants’ who are sometimes orphaned.

This orphanage was started in 1975 and has birthed over 20 new-born calves in its premises.

Some elephants even have had the opportunity to witness their own grand children being born in
the past few decades. Witness as these beautiful creatures are fed at 9.15am, 12.15pm & 5.00pm,or when they are bathed – twice a day at 10.00am and 02.00pm respectively.

This is an experience that is sure to leave you mesmerized for a life time! Once you have toured the elephant orphanage, on the way

Known as a pilgrimage destination for the Temple of the Tooth Relic (a sacred tooth of the Buddha), a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kandy is a sacred city, due to the importance and spiritual significance of this temple.

Kandy, Sri Lanka’s second largest city, is one of the most popular spots to visit when backpacking through Sri Lanka. Backpackers often stop here on their way towards the hill country areas of Nuwara Eliya and Ella. If you’ve got 2 or three days to spare, then a stop to Kandy is worth it

Sacred City of Kandy

Located in the centre of southern Sri Lanka and in the midst of hills of rare vegetal species, the Kandy Valley crosses an area of tropical plantations.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office ( FCDO ) advises against all but essential travel to Sri Lanka, due to the impact of the current economic crisis. This advice does not apply to airside transit through Sri Lanka’s international airport. A State of Emergency is currently in place.
